Goodwill Proud to Host Meet & Greet

Tucson, AZĀ  (July 22nd, 2026)

In partnership with the Tucson Juneteenth Festival Inc., Goodwill Industries of Southern Arizona (GISA) was proud to host a Meet & Greet with Tanishia Johnson, the new Director of African American Student Services for Tucson Unifies School District.

Speaking before a full house, Tanishia shared her background and motivation for the work she does today. She expressed her intent to take a “90 day listening tour” in order to hear the successes and concerns of the students she will be serving as well as their families and the community at large. She also shared her passion is for navigating systems to ensure access for those who have been shut out stems from personal experience.

Tanishia answered a meaningful range of questions, and GISA is grateful for her time to come speak to the community she will be serving.

Dinner was provided by Goodwill, Tucson Juneteenth Festival, TUSD African American Student Services, and Tucson United School District.
