Sustainable Fashion

Our outreach team recently presented at one of ASU’s Waste Not AZ Workshops on the logistics of sustainable fashion. Detailing how clothing and other items donated to Goodwill go through a multi-step process to ensure their value is maximized while still diverting as many items from local landfill’s as possible.

In partnership with the ASU College of Sustainability and FABRIC in Tempe, Goodwill helped provide local educators with information on the sustainable use of clothing through reuse and donation and new emerging sustainable processes that are helping clean up the fashion industry and its harmful impact on the environment. Not many people realize it but fashion is the second most polluting industry in the world….

At Goodwill we try to slow down that cycle of wasteful fashion by giving items with literally tons of value left, another chance to rock the runway or at the very least your closet. Speaking of tons, because of your donations just last year, our local Goodwill diverted over 36 million pounds of items from Southern Arizona’s landfills.
