October is National Disability Employment Awareness Month (NDEAM). NDEAM aims to promote the achievements of disability rights advocates who have fought for equal accommodation and legal protection for people with disabilities in the workplace. It is also an opportunity to acknowledge ongoing efforts to address discrimination and the obstacles that still impede individuals with disabilities from working and applying for jobs.
On October 26th, Goodwill participated in the Fall DREAM (Disability Rehabilitation Awareness Month) Job fair. Over 600 job seekers joined and had the chance to meet with potential employers and apply for open positions. This job fair was coordinated by a committee of local non-profits that aims to connect individuals with a variety of disabilities with employers. Goodwill has been an active member of the DREAM Job fair committee for over 10 years
