Arizona Goodwill Organizations Release New Study Highlighting Over $900 Million in Statewide Economic Output
Study also finds Goodwill operations support more than 10,000 jobs statewide
(Tucson, AZ) Goodwill Industries of Southern Arizona (“GISA”) and Goodwill of Central & Northern Arizona (“GCNA”) today released the findings of a new economic and social impact study highlighting the organizations’ wide-ranging contributions to Arizona’s economy, workforce, and communities. The study underscores Goodwill as a catalyst for both workforce development, economic productivity and social wellbeing.
Pointing to the broad impact Goodwill has on communities throughout the state, the study found that the combined operations of both organizations support 10,447 jobs and generate nearly $927 million in total economic output across Arizona. Together, the organizations also contribute nearly $408 million in labor income and approximately $553 million in value added to Arizona’s Gross State Product.
The study also examined Goodwill’s social impact, highlighting the organization’s role as a trusted workforce and community partner across the state. Community stakeholders cited strong collaboration, responsive services, and a shared drive to improve stability, skills, and long-term economic mobility for individuals and families they serve across various mission-centric programs. Stakeholders identified GISA’s Reentry Program and Career Centers as some of the organization’s most impactful services, citing the opportunity to build new skills, earn industry-recognized certifications, and receive personalized career guidance throughout their employment journey. Survey participants also highlighted the value of GISA’s Work Experience initiatives, noting that hands-on learning opportunities helped build confidence while strengthening the skills needed to succeed in the workforce.

Participants across multiple programs reported meaningful improvements in employment readiness, career direction, and financial stability. Many credited Goodwill with helping them secure employment, earn certifications, and rebuild confidence. Participants also reported improvements in mental health, stronger family relationships, and increased engagement within their communities, underscoring Goodwill’s impact beyond employment services alone. The report concludes that Goodwill’s significant operational scale and person-centered approach together position both GCNA and GISA as strong contributors to workforce development, community resilience, and economic advancement across Arizona.
